Gov Wike Asks President Buhari Not To Appoint Amaechi As Minister

Governor Nyesom Wike

Rivers State Governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari not to appoint former Governor Rotimi Amaechi as minister if he wants his current fight against corruption to be viewed with credibility.
Former Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, it would be recalled was one of top government dignataries that accompanied President Buhari to last week’s official visit to the United States of America (USA).
In a statement issued today and signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Opunabo Inko-Tariah, Governor Wike described President Buhari’s anti-graft campaign as selective and said it would be laughable if former Governor Amaechi makes his ministerial list.
Governor Wike said Amaechi was the most corrupt government official and requested the president to probe him to lend credibility to his fight against corruption.
He further blamed Amaechi for Rivers State’s financial woes, saying his policies were reckless and dictatorial, saying his appointment as a minister will be an endorsement of corruption.
Governor Wike said if Amaechi was blameless, he won’t be seeking protection against investigation, saying it was ironical for Amaechi who closed courts in the state for over a year during his tenure as governor is seeking protection from the same judiciary he crippled.
