Gov Ambode Promises Mass Youth Employment In Lagos
Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has assured that his administration would give priority attention to youth employment and empowerment in the state.
Ambode represented by his deputy, Dr Idiat Adebule, gave the assurance yesterday at the Third Enterprise Day Celebration, organised by the Lagos State Vocational and Technical Education Board (LASTVEB) in Lagos. He added that his administration remained committed towards improving the lives of the people, through the creation of employment opportunities and improved standard of living. The governor noted that the key to such opportunities lies in acquiring skills in vocational and technical education as it was obtained in bigger economies all over the world.
Ambode reiterated that the creation of a new ministry of employment and wealth creation in the state was to help the course of the unemployed youths and also provide business support services for small businesses and entrepreneurs in the state. He said, “Our administration is committed to promoting and encouraging the acquisition of technical and vocational skills as a major instrument for youth empowerment. We have followed up on this with the creation of a new ministry that will be saddled with the responsibilities of wealth creation and employment opportunities.”
