Mr. Charles Eguridu, the Head of National Office of the West African Examination Council (WAEC), Nigeria, today announced the release of the May/June 2015 WASSCE. There was an increase in the performance of candidates this year, when compared with that of 2013 and 2014. Below is breakdown of the results:
- 1,605,248 registered for the May/June 2015 WASSCE
- 1,593,442 sat for the exam.
- 758,849 candidates representing 47.62% obtained six credits & above
- 758,849 candidates representing 47.62% obtained six credits & above
- 949,862 candidates representing 59.61% obtained five credits & above.
- 1,114,988 candidates representing 69.97% obtained credits & above in four subjects.
- 1,295,915 candidates representing 78.81% obtained credits & above in three subjects.
- 1,376,743 candidates representing 86.40% obtained credits & above in two subjects.
- 864,096 candidates were males while 729,346 candidates were females that sat the exam.
- 1,498,069 candidates representing 94.09% have their results fully released.
95,373 candidates representing 5.99% have a few of their subjects still being processed due to some errors traceable to candidates & schools. Such errors are being corrected to enable the affected candidates get their results in full.
The results of 118,101 candidates, representing 7.41% are being withheld in connection with various cases of examination malpractice.
The cases are being investigated & reports of the investigations will be presented to the Nigerian Examinations Committee (NEC).
The Committee’s decisions will be communicated to the affected candidates through their schools.
